Spearfish Chinook of 1943 Collection
The collection includes a photocopy of the Montana-Dakota Utilities registering thermometer graph, timeline of temperature shifts, first-hand accounts, an explanation of the conditions causing the event, handwritten notes, a press release, three published articles, a thank you letter from the Ron Baxley Show, a recording on cassette tape of the Ron Baxley Show, and a 250-year calendar index.

There are several historical photographs and pieces of ephemera that are from earlier times, including a graduation announcement from 1916.

Contains two copies of A True Copy of the Diary of E. Richard Steen 1865. On the inner title page is a note that says "Copied for ARIZONA PIONEERS' HISTORICAL SOCIETY, by Mary A. Billings. There is also a handwritten note that says "For Leland Case 30 July 1981 William B. Steen".

Frank Thomson Collection
The bulk of the material contained in this collection pertains to Frank Thomson's work in researching the Thoen Stone party and publishing his book on the Thoen Stone. There is extensive genealogy research documenting the decedents of the people listed on the stone. This research involved a great deal of correspondence. There are also files on a variety of Black Hills related subjects. A collection of photographs and negatives focus mainly on Spearfish and Black Hills subjects.
