Biographical / Historical
Clara Bangs Lobdell (1911-2009) was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, her family having arrived in Dakota Territory prior to statehood. Her maternal grandfather was William Fremont Hall, a Rapid City architect and contractor. Clara married Wray O. Lobdell and the two lived in several states, eventually settling in Rapid City, and later Caputa.
Clara had an interest in local and western history and was involved with the Minnilusa Historical ASsociation, South Dakota State Historical Society, and Westerners, International. She wrote several articles on western history, including her own memoir.
