Biographical Note
Georgia Clara Ward was born to Emmet Ward and (Adelia) Florence (Hardy) Ward November 9, 1920 at the Clark Ranch in Englewood, SD. She married LeRoy Abrahamson May 12, 1939 in Sturgis, SD. They later moved to Spearfish. Georgia was very active with Republican Women organizations and 1984 she received the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women Cecile Nankivel Award for Outstanding Republican Women in South Dakota. A breast cancer survivor she was also active in the American Cancer Society. She died at age 90 on October 14, 2011 in Spearfish and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
