Biographical Note
Dr. George Clifton Custer (October 19, 1897-March 15, 1969) practiced podiatry in Chicago, Illinois, until his retirement in 1966, at which time he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He was married to Emily and had no children.
In his will he left the sum of $218,146 to ARROW Inc. for the benefit of the descendants of the Indians who fought at the Little Bighorn battle. The money was to be used for scholarships and to establish the Dr. George C. Custer and Emily Henrietta Custer Library at ARROW Inc.'s headquarters. He did this as a way to make amends for the deeds of the man he believed to be his great-uncle, General George A. Custer.
In addition to his work as a podiatrist, he had an interest in hypnotism and the promotion of birth control.
